Welcome to CollegeSimple (accessible at joincollegesimple.com). The following Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and CollegeSimple regarding your use of our platform, resources, and artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

1. Acceptance of Terms

  • By actively checkingthe mandatory agreement checkbox prior to account creation or service initiation, you are establishing a binding "clickwrap" agreement.
  • This mechanical barrier provides irrefutable electronic evidence that you were provided reasonable notice of these Terms and explicitly manifested your assent.

2. User Eligibility and Minor Use

  • Our platform is not directed at children under 13, and you must check a box verifying you are over 13 years of age to use the platform.
  • If you are a minor under the age of eighteen, you are strictly prohibited from executing a purchase unless you obtain the direct involvement of a parent or legal guardian.
  • To utilize premium features, a parent or legal guardian must create the purchasing account, input the financial details, and explicitly co-sign these Terms of Service.
  • By co-signing or facilitating this contract on behalf of a minor, the adult assumes full liability for performance, payment defaults, and adherence to the terms.
  • The adult co-signer is entirely stripped of the voidability protections traditionally afforded to minors under the common law infancy doctrine.

3. Service Description and Artificial Intelligence (AI)

CollegeSimple provides a platform designed to simplify the college admissions process, featuring an AI Counselor (Cora), a CommonApp Builder, and an Essay Editor. Because our platform integrates generative artificial intelligence, you strictly agree to the following conditions:

  • Originality Acknowledgment: You explicitly concede that AI-generated essays, suggestions, or structural rewrites provided by the platform are not your original work.
  • Institutional Policy Compliance: You bear the sole, unilateral, and absolute responsibility for ensuring that your use of the AI tool complies with the specific guidelines, honor codes, and application rules of every individual university to which you are applying.
  • Awareness of Detection Mechanisms: You acknowledge the existence and prevalent use of AI detection software by admissions committees, and you accept the risk of your submission being flagged.
  • Disclaimer of Admission Guarantees:CollegeSimple's critiques and AI rewrites are intended solely as aids to improve writing skills, and under no circumstances do they constitute a guarantee of acceptance to any institution.
  • Total Release of Liability: You agree to hold the platform and its operators totally harmless from any negative consequences arising from the use of the software, explicitly including academic disciplinary actions, rejected applications, rescinded offers, or allegations of plagiarism.

4. Payments, Subscriptions, and Refunds

  • CollegeSimple charges a single-tier subscription price of $20 per month on a month-to-month basis that can be canceled at any time.
  • Users are eligible for a 3-day free trial that requires no credit card to access premium features.
  • Refunds may be requested within 24 hours of purchase by directly contacting team@collegesimple.com.
  • We utilize third-party payment gateways, such as Stripe, to securely route and process financial data.
  • We explicitly disclaim liability for any financial breaches, errors in transaction processing, declined cards, or platform outages originating from the third-party payment processor.
  • Access to these third-party services is at your own risk, and the platform does not endorse or guarantee the continuous operation of the payment gateway.

5. Intellectual Property and User Content

  • You confirmthat any text or essay drafts inputted into the platform's text boxes do not contain the confidential or proprietary information of third parties.
  • You grant the platform the right to process your inputted data strictly to generate the requested service output.
  • CollegeSimple retains all rights regarding its own original designs and literature.
  • The platform may containcopyrighted material not specifically authorized by the owner, but its use constitutes "fair use" for purposes of commentary, criticism, or education under Section 107 of the United States Copyright Act.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

  • The service, the platform, and all generated contentare provided strictly on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, devoid of any guarantees.
  • We expressly disclaim all warranties, whether they are express, implied, or statutory.
  • This includes the outright disclaimer of the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular educational purpose, and non-infringement of third-party rights.
  • We do not warrant that the operation of the website will be uninterrupted, totally secure, or error-free.
  • We disclaim any responsibility for damages resulting from malware, viruses, or other digital hazards that a user might encounter while interfacing with the service.

7. Limitation of Liability
